Magdalen college commemoration ball

 

SXS Car Launch Services is the UKs leading specialist provider of production services to Oxford and Cambridge balls. Having provided to over 20 of the largest balls in the last three years, the SXS Car Launch Services team have the creative, interpersonal and technical skills to make any student event a massive success.

 

The Ball Brief

The 2009 ball was to be the Commemoration Ball ofr Magdalen College. This event only occurs every three years and is at the upper level of ticket price for Oxford balls. As such it must impress and be an elegant and sophisticated affair.

The Magdalen Architecture

The college features some of the most stunning architecture in college and this was to be the main visual focuss throughout the site. Simple and considerate lighting was used throughout. Clever use of temperature corrected light, a-symmetic lighting fixtures and gentle spot-lighting made for a stunning appearance.

 

The Performance

The main stage feature major performers inlcuding Feeder and the Pipettes. The SXS Car Launch Services team provided an exciting sound solution feauturing a Yamaha M7 desk at front of house and a challenging monitor-desk changeover.

Other Aspects

The SXS Car Launch Services team provided full site technical services including sound, lighting, power distribution, video, and infrastrucutre. The 20-strong team loaded in an entire articulated lorry full of equipment over a three day period.
